Catherine Schwartz, PhD, is an associate professor of Mathematics Education at East Carolina University. Her research interests focus on ways beginning elementary teachers envision themselves as mathematics teachers in multiple contexts.
Anne Swenson Ticknor, PhD, is an associate professor in Literacy Studies at East Carolina University. Her research interests focus on the intersection of identity and teacher education for elementary literacy teachers.
Together, Katie and Anne created the LAUNCH into Mathematics Program, funded by the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, to support beginning teachers in their mathematics teaching, professional identity development, and agentic negotiation in local teaching contexts. Teach for Changency is an extension of the LAUNCH into Mathematics Program.
